6″x18″, Colored Pencil

Technique
Sketched five insects out that are interesting to me our creepy (like an Earwig). Outlined in black ink, and filled with Colored Pencil except for the Praying Mantis (on the far left) that I wanted to leave white suggesting its an albino or simply just white. I did try and make all of the bugs overlapping each other in someway or another in order to pull my picture together more and to have more of a horizontal effect.

Photoshop
I cleaned up the white of blemishes and marks. I lightened the white and slightly darkened the black. I played around with the color saturation values to a level that I liked however I noticed in this picture especially there seemed to be less obvious changes from my original to my Photoshoped version. I blame the open, blank feel of the picture for that…without a background pulling it all together my work has a very different feel, don’t know if I like it but it is different.
